Various power meters provide RS232, RS485 or optical interface according to IEC1107 specification. Values of measured consumption, voltages and currents are provided in a standard text form. ZPA-MB Converter communicates with power meter through optical interface at the 300 Baudrate. It extracts desired values, stores them in the internal memory and provides data at the EIA/TIA 485 system bus with Modbus protocol.

It is also possible to connect the module to LAN/WAN networks by means of usual third party RS485/Ethernet converters.
The ZPA-MB Converter module is usually put on the server-mastered master RS485 line in FARCOM system
